Castle Hike

Distance – 4.4 miles (one way)
Approximate time – 75 to 150 mins.
This route uses parts of our green and yellow walks to join up with the Clwydian Way at Lleweni Bridge. Shortly afterwards the route passes the gate to Lleweni Hall Farm where those starting from the Tourer Park will join us. The longest part of the hike is then on this secluded section of the long distance footpath. A short section from Kilford farm to St Marcella’s Church (the Whitchurch or Eglwyswen) is along a relatively un-trafficked road which has no footpath, but benefits from a wide and walkable verge. A detour through the churchyard avoids the traffic on a dangerous bend before returning you to proper pavements on the residential roads of Denbigh. The final section of the journey is where you do all of the climbing on the narrow streets near the castle with an amazing assortment of houses crammed onto the sides of the hill.

Routes are marked by coloured paint spots or bands on trees along the route. The route is on the painted side of the tree.

These walks are largely on the private Lleweni Parc Estate. Paths on the estate are not Permissive Paths and access to this land is strictly limited to guests of Lleweni Parc, members of Denbigh Gliding and members of the Rhyl & St Asaph Angling Association. Please do not ride bikes on the grass paths and please clean up after your dog. We hope you enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of our little “paradais”.
